ABOUT COACHES VS. CANCER
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. This initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. Since 1993, coaches have raised nearly $100 millionfor the ACS. Over nine years, Coaches vs. Cancer Wisconsin has raised $5.6 millionand is the largest Coaches vs. Cancer program in the country! Currently, the American Cancer Society has $12.8 million invested in active cancer research at institutions throughout Wisconsin, with $8.2 million at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Carbone Cancer Center.
The work of the American Cancer Society benefits everyone regardless of where the funds are raised. Although all the answers to cancer may not be found in our specific community, our community will help fund those answers and cures and ultimately benefit from them. The American Cancer Society continues to fund innovative, high-impact research to scientists at institutions throughout the country, including right here in Wisconsin. Currently, there is more than $12.8 million in cancer research grants invested here in the state of Wisconsin, with $8.2 million at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
